millbrook regional gsm named best wine at $20-$25

In a category Ray Jordan described as a "solid class of excellent wines" we're thrilled that the Millbrook 2018 Regional Grenache Shiraz Mourvèdre won out against competition from across Australia to take the title of 'Best Wine at $20 to $25' with 94 points in the Top 100 Reds of 2019.

Ray described the wine as "outstanding", praising its "floral red fruit notes on the nose that burst forth with generous flavours on the palate."

Already a trophy winner for Best Red Blend and three times gold medal winner from the 2018 show season, this is fantastic recognition for a blend that is still relatively rare in Western Australia, but which has shown to be superb in the hands of Millbrook Winery Senior Winemaker Damian Hutton and his team.

Also featured in the $25 to $40 category, Ray described the Millbrook 2017 SV (Single Vineyard) Shiraz as a "lovely wine" with "ripe plummy fruit evident on the palate with infusions of spices and licorice, with a lick or two of chocolate. Dense yet has a lifted lightness of touch that elevates the palate and mouth feel.

Awarding the SV Shiraz 94 points, Ray also noted that this "super wine" has already "scored big" in wine shows, taking the trophy for Best Out of Region Wine at the 2018 Perth Hills Wine Show among a tally of five gold and silver medals to date.
